Our mission is to introduce area kids to the lifetime sport of golf through Physical Education classes in local school districts and in our Junior Golf Camps held at the club over the summer.
Stamford Junior Golf Program provides equipment and instruction to local schools through two week physical education classes to introduce the game to thousands of area students. The SGC is the home course for several local school golf teams and hosts numerous high school golf matches from late August to mid-October.
Each camp consists of four instructional stations that focus on swing fundamentals, chipping, putting and rules and etiquette of the game. After an hour and a half of instruction, the kids go out on the course and play several holes with adult supervision each day. Kids who need golf clubs are provided with loaner sets which they can use for the entire season.
SGC Junior Golf Inc is a 501(c)(3) organization. Section 501(c)(3) is the portion of the US Internal Revenue Code that allows for federal tax exemption of nonprofit organizations, specifically those that are considered public charities, private foundations or private operating foundations.
